Edy* recently participated in a Wycliffe Associates MAST (Mobilized Assistance Supporting Translation) workshop in Southeast Asia. Edy and his family lived about an hour away, but he left his small shop in his hometown for two weeks. He was a true inspiration to the team as they worked together translating the books of the New Testament.During the second week of the MAST workshop, Edy was asked to give his testimony. He shared that within a very short time, three devastating incidents had befallen his family, wiping out their savings and everything he had worked so hard to establish. Under such circumstances, many people would have given in to the weight of the loss and questioned their faith. Not Edy.
In fact, Edy’s faith is stronger than ever, and he is committed to translating the Bible in his mother tongue so that others can read about the saving grace of his Lord Jesus Christ.
Following his testimony, Edy sang this song: God has a plan that is bigger than all the unthinkable. I will not give up on anything before I try all that I can. My heart surrenders to Your will, because I believe that God has a plan.
Edy was then asked how he was able to hold on to his faith during such trials. His response was simple and straight from the heart: “Nothing compares to what Jesus endured on the cross to save us.”
