Church Community in Madagascar

 

The Plateau Malagasy Gateway Language Project was nearing completion when heavy rains caused flooding in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. It was recently reported that the downpour resulted in catastrophic floods and landslides that caused death and injuries.

And now a new cyclone is forecast to hit Madagascar, bringing new disasters.

Our partner, Madagascar Mission, was diligently working on the Malagasy Old Testament Scriptures at a MAST workshop. Also, a new full-size Print On Demand (POD) system was being installed when a cyclone and heavy rains interrupted all the work. The power went out in the city 8-hours a day for two weeks. And the national Bible translators lost access to the Internet. They still don’t have consistent power.

Needless to say, computers, tablets, and printers just do not work very long without power and Internet.

So, my dear prayer partners, this brings us to our current need for prayer. Wycliffe Associates leadership has decided it is necessary to provide this new print shop at the Mission in Madagascar with a generator.

This week Wycliffe Associates is raising funds for a generator for the Madagascar print shop and Mission facility.

Will you pray along with me? First let’s pray for the Bible translation work going on right now in Madagascar.

Pray for a hedge of protection around those who are doing this Bible translation.

Pray that the national Bible translators will very soon complete the Plateau Malagasy Bible and Scripture resources so that all of the local language groups on the island of Madagascar will be able to translate the Bible into their heart languages.

Pray for our partners planning, leading, and facilitating MAST workshops in Madagascar—using the newly translated Plateau Malagasy Bible.

Pray that flood waters will recede and pray for safety setting up the large POD equipment.

Please pray that funds will come in so a generator can be purchased and installed at the mission facility where the full-size POD shop is located.

Pray for Dennis Steward as he leads the set-up of the print shop and trains the local believers how to safely run the printing equipment.

Pray that very soon, the Bible will be translated into all the languages of Madagascar. Pray that the result of Scripture in the mother tongue will be the transformation of lives.
