Kali* wasn’t sure what he believed. As a teenager fresh out of high school, he was more concerned with finding a job than spiritual matters. So when his dad invited him to come along to a two-week MAST (Mobilized Assistance Supporting Translation) workshop and help translate the Scriptures, let’s just say that Kali was less than enthusiastic. Not one to give up easily, his father pled with him, saying, “Just come, there is a salvation out there.”
After much hesitation, Kali agreed to go—dragging his feet every step of the way. But once the workshop got underway and he came face-to-face with God’s Word, Kali’s attitude began to miraculously shift.
With every Scripture verse he read, his uncertainty seemed to fade until he knew in his heart that his father was right. There was a salvation—in Jesus Christ.
Right there at the workshop, Kali accepted Christ as his savior. He was then led down to the Indian Ocean, where he was baptized with a handful of other new believers. His father stood beaming at the sight of God answering his prayers for his son.
Kali, his father, and the rest of their MAST team went on to help translate 14 books of the New Testament into their heart language. These books were printed at the conclusion of the workshop, so they could take them back to their community. Soon they will reconvene for their next workshop to finish what they’ve started.
Thank you for your continued support, which not only is helping translate God’s Word but also is transforming lives of young and old in the process.
